I love watching a kid do something in March they couldn't do in November. With 11-White, that moment feels extra special because these girls are still figuring out who they are on the court and how strong they can be together.
Defense is my favorite part of the game because a great dig shows me exactly who wants to compete and keep fighting for every point. In practice we split time between position work and bringing it all together with small-sided games so everyone gets plenty of touches and builds real confidence.
I coach the next ball, always. The last one is already gone, and I want my players to shake off mistakes like goldfish so we stay locked in on what's next. At this age, everybody plays meaningful minutes because development matters more than the scoreboard.
You'll find me cheering loud on the sidelines, and my door stays open for questions except right after a match. I still play beach myself, and I trade ideas with the master coaches here so the gym feels steady and supportive for every girl on the team.
