CVA Coach

Adam Miracle

Head Coach · 17-1

Adam Miracle here, two seasons at CVA and this year I've got 17-1. I'll talk about hitting longer than anything else. It's the most fun skill in the gym and the hardest to do under pressure. Ask me about serve receive and you'll get a while on that as well. Coaching has taken up more than fifteen years of my life, six or more with this exact age group.

When an athlete makes a bad error in a tight set: I give the fix, not the replay. They know they shanked it before I do. Come to a session and you'll find it high volume, with a lot of contacts per athlete.

Not everyone fits how I work, and who tends to struggle is an athlete who isn't ready to be pushed past what they think they can do. My position on playing time: we're here to compete. The best lineup plays, and I say that to families before they commit. Some things I can point at: 10 of 10 athletes came back the following season, 100 made high school varsity, 45 went on to play in college and top 5 at USAV Nationals .

Away from the gym I'm a teacher. Before coaching I played outside hitter and i played everywhere professionally overseas, and I still play beach. My ability to give specific feedback when mistakes are made helps set me apart. My team has never let me forget the one phrase I repeat about four hundred times a practice.

If something's bothering you, don't sit on it. My door is open, with one rule: not in the ten minutes after a match.
